NOEP Coordinator

Full- time 12 Months/ 35 hrs. per week/pro-rated benefits)

The Nutrition Outreach Education Program (NOEP) Coordinator will work to publicize and education the community about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and assist individuals and families with the SNAP application process. The Coordinator will be responsible for pre-screening clients, assisting with gathering required documentation for the application or re-certification process, application submission and preparing clients for interview with DSS. Complete all required reports accurately and in timely manner. Work with local agencies to identify and resolve systemic barriers to the SNAP program. The Coordinator will also be responsible for attending all trainings required by the Nutrition Consortium and Catholic Charities. The NOEP Coordinator will report to the RSVP & Health and Assistance Programs Director.

Qualifications: Associates degree with 4 years experience, preferably in Human Services field; working with marginalized populations; Sensitivity to cultural and human diversity issues; working knowledge of Microsoft software. Good organizational writing, listening and observational skills and the ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions. Valid NYS Driver’s License and access to personal transportation during working hours is required. Hiring is contingent upon clearance of Catholic Charities required background checks sanction screenings and Central Registry Clearance plus completion of mandated trainings.

Essential Services Program Director

Full- time 12 Months/ Exempt

The Essential Services Program Director will provide oversight and supervision to the following programs; Emergency Assistance, Housing, and Transportation. Provide leadership in provision and coordination of above programs for Catholic Charities of Herkimer County. Oversee each programs funding and reporting requirements. The Essential Services Program Director will report to the Executive Director.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in related field and/ or relevant work experience, four years of work experience in direct provision of human services, working with marginalized populations; sensitivity to cultural and human diversity issues; two years of Supervision experience. Good presentation, organizational and public speaking skills required. Valid NYS Driver’s License required.Hiring is contingent upon clearance of Catholic Charities required background checks sanction screenings and Central Registry Clearance. plus completion of mandated trainings.

Domestic Violence Case Manager

(FT with benefits; 35 hrs. per week)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Domestic Violence Program of Herkimer County seeks a full time Domestic Violence Case Manager. Responsible for providing individual client support, criminal justice and legal system advocacy, referral to ancillary community services, interacting with various public and community agencies, case management, outreach and community education/information to schools, organizations and many diverse groups throughout Herkimer County to promote a coordinated community response and prevention of domestic violence.

This includes but is not limited to:

  1. Accompanying clients to court, to the police station, to DSS and to doctors as deemed necessary.
  2. Assist with finding safe housing for clients, safety planning and providing links to community resources.
  3. Providing supportive individual counseling, either in-person, over the phone or virtually.
  4. Assist clients with understanding their rights and helping complete any associated paperwork.
  5. Maintain accurate and complete case notes, using data base entry.
  6. Must be comfortable with using computers, laptops, cell phone, and copier and be proficient in data base entry and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, but will consider those that have a special interest in working with population served. Should have experience with trauma informed, survivor-centered service provision, preferred knowledge of local community resources, ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism, as well as strong organizational, time-management, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have an interest in and commitment to anti-oppression and social justice work. Candidate must hold a valid NYS driver’s license and have reliable daily transportation.
